Dr. Nicki Karimipour earned her Ph.D. from the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications in August 2016, and serves as an instructor at the College. She was the founding instructor and served as editor for the digital magazine since its inception in fall 2015. She now works in clinical trial recruitment at the University of Southern California Clinical and Translational Science Institute in Los Angeles, CA. She is a graduate of Florida State University with degrees in English literature and art history, and received her master’s degree in journalism from UF in 2013. She has conducted a variety of research on female body image and social media. Her background in health includes graduate-level courses taken in the UF College of Health and Human Performance, two years working in the communications department of Shands Hospital’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and as a consultant on grant-funded medical research. Karimipour also has a variety of professional experience in writing, editing, publishing, freelancing, and designing layouts for magazine and newspaper content. Her work has been featured online in Ms. Magazine, Adios Barbie, and Florida Trend Magazine, among others.
