We get it. Scheduling the time to work out can be tough when there are so many other activities vying for your attention: School, work, friends, family, your significant other, pets. But to quote Elle Woods, “exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy.”

The Student Body Magazine staff shares the items that have changed their fitness game:

As an avid runner, I get bored of the treadmill. But here’s the problem: When I run outside, I want to know all the numbers—my distance, my speed and my calories burned. The Nike+ Running App enables me to do just that. It maps my run and informs me of my time and distance when I complete every mile. If you are looking for more motivation, the app allows you to add your friends and compete with them. This app is free, easy to download and easy to use. If you are a consistent runner, especially one who prefers the outdoors, this is a great way to track your running progress. –Meredith Sheldon

If you saw me at the gym last year, you probably would have seen me sprinting a few miles on the track and then heading to the weight room to burn out my muscles on the machines. Fast forward to this year and I can’t tell you the last time I went on a weight machine. I got introduced to TRX training when I noticed these random black and yellow bands hanging from the wall and decided to look it up. The website defines TRX training as “a workout system that leverages gravity and your bodyweight to perform hundreds of exercises.” Unlike machines that usually have you sitting and working out one muscle at a time, TRX is centered around the principle of building muscle by doing a workout that requires several muscle groups at a time. TRX training significantly builds a strong core, balance, and a lean, cut look. Check out these videos and give TRX a try. Mariana Riquezes

When it comes to working out, my hair is always my greatest opponent. When I start going, the frizz starts springing up and the baby hairs start coming out. I tried every clip and headband I could find, but the clips came loose and the headbands slid right off–nothing could contain my mane. Until one day, when I discovered Lulu and it changed my life. Lululemon, the store, that is. This athletic boutique offers a headband that is wide enough to hold down my baby hairs and has a gripping material on the inside layer. No frizz and no sliding. At $12 it is a bit of an investment, but I like to think of it as an investment in a successful workout. It is now one of my most essential fitness gear items. Alexa Romagnolo

Since I am a little bustier than the average woman, I make a huge effort to make sure my chest doesn’t get in the way of a great workout. I’ve been active all my life–I played soccer and ran cross country all through high school–and it’s crucial that I feel supported at all times. Because of that, I have to give it up to Victoria’s Secret for their awesome sports bras. They are amazing: they come in a range of sizes, are made with quality fabric, and, most importantly,  hold the girls in at all times. Though the price tag is steep, if you go to their outlet stores, you can find them on sale for $14.99! Unbeatable. –Cassie Angu

If you are serious about your fitness game, wireless headphones are a must-have item. We’ve all been there, Avicii’s beat is just about to drop as you hit that second mile when bam–your Apple earbuds decide to conk out, again. Or you find yourself on the Stairmaster and all of the sudden your phone comes crashing down the steps, pulling the music right from your ears. For an avid runner, or anyone who values their gym-time, nothing is more frustrating. While headphones constitute a large industry and companies like Beats by Dre appear to dominate the market, you do not have to drain your bank account to snag a quality pair of headphones. SoundPEATSQY7 are the ones I currently use, and they have completely transformed my workouts. Not only can you run without having to worry about your music disconnecting, but the sound quality is legit. They also come in handy when you are doing a workout routine that requires you to follow along to a routine or timer, you are now able to prop your phone in front of you without having to be confined to the distance of the headphones. –Samantha Bove
